If a company lists themselves as an accounting firm in an online directory, but their website says nothing about accounting…that is a red flag

Websites should make sure they feature high-quality content that tells potential customers about the products and services offered. The process of making sure your website is both user and search engine friendly is referred to as onsite search engine optimization (SEO).

In simple terms, this means adjusting certain elements of your website so that search engines are able to “crawl”read your information in order to create entries for an indexand understand the content as well as website structure.

The ultimate goal of onsite SEO is to make it as easy as possible for both users and search engines to…

Understand what a web page is about

Identify that page as relevant to a search query using keyword(s)

Find that page useful and worthy of ranking well on a search engine results page

There are several ways to be rewarded with high rankings on search engines. One is having sound security and functionality of your site. Check to see if it’s mobile-friendly and compatible with all devices and browsers, as well as if the information on your site matches your listings data.

Information on your website should match your listings data.

Consider the content of your site and how relevant it is to the person searching. What is their intent? Ask yourself this question and create content that is in-depth, unique and trustworthy.

When modifying your site content to make it more crawlable, focus on relevant title and descriptions, creating alternative text for images and incorporating internal links so users stay on your page.

All of these combine to create your level of authority on Google.

Remember, by improving onsite content and your website’s visibility, you are also increasing the quality and quantity of website traffic.
